The only name I have that I can verify is Wihelmina Basler Zobel, born 1833, daughter of Joseph Basler, widow of John Zobel.According to one of the censuses, she was the mother of 14 children. Her daughter Bertha, who later married a Hild and had three children, Bertha, Oscar and Arthur, is my link.
I have a note stating that the elder Bertha was an aunt to my great-grandmother, Wilhelmina Schroeder.I have nothing on my g-grandmother, except her birthdate, father and brother's names and a photo of them, three of which were taken in Gnesen, Thorn, and Bromberg, all in Prussia.
The family referred to Wilhelmina Zobel as "Grandma Zobel".
She brought my g-gmother over to Cincinnati to escape an abusive stepmother.I have a photo of an older lady, taken in Cinn., who greatly resembles my family, but no idea who she is.The clothes she is wearing fit the timeline for it to be Wilhelmina Zobel.
I've visited the Cinn. library's genealogy dept. and copied what I could find there.None of it has helped.Do you live in Cinn.?I live in KY.
It's good to finally find someone who is working on this line! Please stay in touch and let me know if the descendents can provide any information. If they aren't into genealogy, they may not realize how one tiny bit can open up the whole thing.
Betty
