I descend from Luigi (Louis) Zolezzi, born March 19, 1855 or 1856 or 1857 (depending on which record you rely on) in Sestri Levante, Genoa, Italy. He was one of the eldest children of Bartolomeo Zolezzi and Maria Cordiviola. I estimate that Bartolomeo Zolezzi was born about 1820, probably in Sestri Levante, Genoa, Italy, and married in Sestri Levante (or possible Chiavari), Genoa, Italy, between 1850-1856.
My ancestor (Luigi Zolezzi) immgrated by himself between age 9-10 (about 1866) from Italy to San Francisco, California (USA) to live with his uncle, Giuseppe (Joseph) Cordiviola who was a shoemaker and/or ran a rooming house in San Francisco. The rest of the family (Bartolomeo and Maria Zolezzi and the rest of the children) immigrated to Argentina about 1870 and I think they settled in Baradero (just outside of Buenos Aires). I have a letter from one of his children written in 1911 from Baradero to my great grandfather in San Jose, California.
The rest of the children of Bartolomeo Zolezzi and Maria Cordiviola were Julia Zolezzi(b. 1861 in Italy), Luigi Zolezzi (born 1870 - not my ancestor), Estefano Zolezzi (or Esteban Zolezzi) and Teressa Zolezzi. Julia Zolezzi moved from Argentina to San Francisco between 1870 and she married Attilio D. Geminani in the early 1880s and they lived in Santa Clara County, California. As far as I know, the rest of the family remained in Argentina.
I am hoping to find out more about Bartolomeo Zolezzi and his wife, Maria Cordiviola, including their birth/baptism records and marriage record in Italy and their death and burial records in Argentina. I am hoping to learn more information about the ancestors of my Bartolomeo Zolezzi and my Maria Cordiviola.
