Jacob Zorn: b. c1718, emigrated PA 1738

I thought someone might find this of interest.

Jacob Zorn evidently emigrated from Rotterdam on the ship Friendship, arriving in Philadelphia on, or about, 19 September 1738. He took the Oath of Allegiance (20 September 1738) to the province and state of Pennsylvania. From 1727-1775 all males over sixteen years of age were obliged to take this oath and declaration, as soon after their arrival as possible. In this oath, immigrants declared they would be faithful to King George II.

The PA records have Jacob and numerous others identified as Palatines who emigrated in a two ship group that sailed together: the ship Nancey (William Wallace, Commmander), and the ship Friendship (Henry Beach, Commmander). Both ships were from Rotterdam, but their last stop prior to the Atlantic crossing was in Dover, England.

If Jacob were 20 in 1738, then he was born in 1718 or so.

Source Information: Egle, William Henry. Names Of Foreigners Who Took The Oath Of Allegiance To The Province And State Of Pennsylvania, 1727-1775, With The Foreign Arrivals, 1786-1808. Harrisburg, PA : E. K. Meyers, 1892.

In a very distant manner, I'm seemingly related to Jacob through his daughter Catherine and her husband Christopher Eye.
