Hi,

My name is Lisa Maurier

Just found my husbands grand-father on the 1901 Census - Frank Maurier.

His parents are Albert and Margaret Maurer (the surname was changed a few years later to Maurier.

Both Albert and Margaret Maurer were born in Germany (British Subjects) and their children were all born in Sheffield, Yorkshire (Nether Hallam) part of Sheffield, Yorkshire)

Frank Maurier and his brothers were boxers but many of the family were butchers in the pork provisions trade.

Is there a connection?

Hope this e-mail reaches you as I see it was 2000 when you posted this message

Also my husbands grand-mother also remembers some of the Aunties could only speak German.

Lisa Maurier
