Warren Zufelt was a civil servant in the federal government living and working in Ottawa. Following a police raid on a 'Male Modelling Agency', the local newspaper printed the names, addresses, occupations, and work addresses of all the individuals accused of hiring the male models.
At the time, the mere suggestion of homosexuality resulted in a lose of security clearance within the federal government, and an RCMP file, including monitoring of all activities and associations.
In short, because Zufelt was accused of homosexuality his career was over, he no longer was able to travel, or obtain work in his field.
Before the trial Zufelt jumped off his roof, killing himself.
As a result, the local newspaper suffered irrevocable harm, the mayor and city council decreed the police would never again release personal information.
